Cannot delete project (or engagement) due to time entries

SYMPTOMS

When trying to delete a project (or an engagement), an error message pops up that the project cannot be deleted because time has been entered for it. At the same time it is not possible to desubmit or transfer all of these time entries as some of them have been adjusted (adjusted time cannot be desubmitted or transferred).


REASON

This error occurs only if the project/engagement is billable and there are time records that have not yet been fully invoiced.

RESOLUTION

As the project/engagement should be deleted, it probably doesn't matter if it is billable or not. So the solution is to change the project/engagement to 'non billable' before attempting to delete it.

Note: The setting 'billable' might be not editable in the project. If so, first enable the setting 'Allow project managers to override the billable status' in the engagement/initiative.
