Project Task Statusing and Project Percent Complete

The percent complete calculation is actual / (actual + remaining).

1. Changing the percent complete on the time sheet will do nothing to actual hours.
2. Depending on the setup in System Manager for time control: entered / submitted/ approved, hours shown as actual hours on the project worksheet may not be the same as the timesheet.
3. If the time control is entered / submitted / approved, you should do the status update after the time has been entered / submitted / approved.
4. “Save status” just means “I have no updates”, but it creates a status update history entry to indicate the user has taken some action on the status.

So the bottom line is that once the time has been entered /submitted /approved then the resource can status the task to get the correct results.

If you want the users to Status the Task at the Task level then perform the following steps:

1.) Click “Actions > Status”
2.) Enter your Percent Complete for the task
3.) Do not click the “Calculate percent complete” button
4.) Click outside of the “Percent Complete” field
5.) Click save

The % completed cannot be seen on the Project Worksheet at the project level, it only shows at the task level when the project is rolled up.
