Connecting the Changepoint Mail Service to SMTP server which requires authentication and secure connection

Out of the box, the Changepoint mail service cannot be configured to use an account that requires authentication. I.e. in the .config file, other than the SMTP mail server name and the sender email address, it is not possible to specify a username and password for authentication.

Note

There is a workaround by installing the SMTP virtual server on the application server, where the Changepoint Mail service is installed:

  1. Install and configure the SMTP virtual server on application server with relay email function, as described in the following article: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/how-to-configure-iis-for-relay-with-office-365-eb57abd2-3859-4e79-b721-2ed1f0f579c9
  2. Configure the Changepoint Mail service with local host for the SMTP server.

This is under the responsibility of the client and setting up this relay mechanism is not done by Changepoint Customer Care
