The export publishing service does not start

Symptoms

When trying to start the export publishing service, it starts and then immediately stops.

Error/warning messages

In the windows event log there is a message:

Unable to start Changepoint Export Publishing Service due to version incompatibility.

Reason

The version of the service executable file on the server does not match the version information in the database.

Resolution

Please compare:

1. In the DB, do a Select * from version and note the version of the export publishing service

2. On the server; right click on the executable of the service, select properties and then details to check the field 'file version'

In case there is a difference, please review the installation of all patches and make sure no step was left out; e.g. the reinstallation of the export publishing service can be part of some patches and must not be missed.

Note: This also applies to other services of Changepoint, like email service, email notifications, report scheduling or report prerender service.
