Why does Opportunity Services tab show hourly rate when the UI setting in Preferences is in days?(CP 2012 SP2)

Question:
Preferences are set to work in days for the Opportunity dialog. When creating an opportunity with a billing type for "Fixed fee only", the cost and billing rates in services tab are displayed in hours, although the effort is entered in days. Why?


Answer:
Daily rates in opportunity service tab are used only when “Daily” or “Mixed – Fixed Fee/Daily” billing type is selected in Opportunity General tab.

“Days” option in Preferences page applies only to service effort in UI.

Additional notes:
A tooltip will appear showing hours that will be applied when calculating totals, when moving the mouse pointer over “Days” cell.
