Exchange synchronization error "Autodiscovery failed for user"

Symptoms

The server-side calendar synchronization process is running but no entries for users are being recorded in the event logs and not all events are updating in users Changepoint calendars.

The event log shows the following error:

Autodiscovery failed for user

 

Reason

Microsoft’s EWS Managed API has a defect in it that enables trace logging even when trace logging has not been enabled explicitly. 

Workaround

Perform the following steps from time to time:

1.    Stop the service.
2.    Open a command prompt.
3.    cd C:\Windows\System32
4.    del *Autodiscover*.txt
5.    exit
6.    Start the service.

Additional notes

Changepoint will work around Microsoft’s defect and provide a fix.
