Cannot change billing role effective/expiry date

Symptoms
When trying to adjust the billing role effective date (now called expiry daye) in project worksheet a validation error is displayed.

Error messages/Warnings
“The effective date cannot be before the .../.../......”

Reason
The effective date cannot be modified for a billing role once saved, and subsequent changes to billing roles must have an effective date that is later than the current effective date. This behavior is by design (see Project Management User Guide p.53)

Workaround
In order to use an effective date that cannot be applied to the existing assignment:

1- Create a new task
2- Assign the resource to the newly created task with the desired effective date
3- Transfer time to the new task
