Why do numbers export as Text in newer versions when using the Excel export for reports? v2012

There were some changes implemented between versions 2009 SP2 – and 2010 SP1 which now export some numeric values as general formatting. Please see the information below on the changes.

- The numeric field column will only detected as numeric when the value of the cell has comma (e.g 1,000.00). Otherwise, it's converted to General but it can be used in mathematical formula without any problem.
- The General or Text column will detect the cell as numeric if the cell value has comma (e.g. 1,000.00), date field if the cell value is in date format. The rest will be text or General data field
- When the cell value under Text field has a leading 0 (e.g. 001232), the leading zeros gets removed once it get exported to excel..

Note: Even when one of the cell item in numeric column is in General Data type, this can still be used as one of the mathematical formula.
