FTE count is not calculating correctly on the Resource Management Worksheet (2012)

Project Worksheet (PW) and Resource Management Worksheet (RMW) referenced in this article are based on Silverlight technology and are no longer available as of Changepoint 2020

QUESTION:

1. When entering the total hours for a month in RMW (FP – Monthly) it just shows it as the hours for the last day of the month (when viewed as FP-Daily)

2. When seeing the calculation in FTE why would it show for the month which has 160 hrs as 21 FTE instead of 1 representing 100%

ANSWER:
Answers :
1. It only allocates effort on working days, and only between the overall planned start/finish for the item. In other words, it may not have room to allocate effort over the entire fiscal period.

2. The FTE calculation is the hourly demand divided by the number of working days in the fiscal period divided by the resource’s daily conversion factor. If there are few working days in the fiscal period, the FTE amount could be very large. Switch to a daily view and see how many working days are available, and where effort is allocated. Again, pay attention to the planned start date and planned finish date. Effort is only allocated to working days that fall within the planned start/finish, no matter how many are in any fiscal period.
