Workgroup configuration user interface seems to ignore Include Children flag (2012)

Symptoms:
In the workgroup configuration page, we have selected a name as the resource manager under the list "Resource Managers for this workgroup, who will receive Resource Requests from other Workgroups". We have also checked the "Include children" checkbox before saving.

When reviewing the configuration of a child workgroup the same resource does not appear as selected, even though the “Include Children” flag was set in the parent workgroup.

Reason:
Unfortunately workgroup UI is not designed to reflect the configuration of parent workgroups when a child workgroup is being displayed; the page is not aware of the “Include Children” flag of the parent workgroup when displaying the child workgroup settings.

Resolution:
Nevertheless, "Include Children" flag is taken into account when the relevant functionality is being used. Following functionality test can be done for verifying the configuration, using the engagement dialog:

1. Assign resource “R” as resource manager of the workgroup “WGParent”, with the “Include Children” option selected.
2. Logon as “R” and edit an engagement where the “Enable resource requests…” options are disabled
3. Change the staffing workgroup of the engagement to be “WGParent” and click “Apply”
4. Verify that the “Enable resource requests…” options are now enabled, since resource "R" is a resource manager for "WGParent".
5. Change the staffing workgroup of the engagement to be “WGChild” (child of WGParent) and click “Apply”
6. Verify that the “Enable resource requests…” options are still enabled, which means resource "R" is also a resource manager for "WGChild".

Additional notes:
A Feature Request has been created for improving the workgroup page, so that the resource managers inherited from the parent workgroups are reflected in the UI.
