Error when accessing Cognos in two environments

SYMPTOMS:

When trying to access Cognos in the Test environment, the following message is generated:

ERROR/WARNING MESSAGES:

DPR-ERR-2107 The user capabilities cache cookie cannot be decoded"

REASON:

When accessing two different Cognos environments, for example Test and Prod portions of the cookie are encoded.
The session information in the cookie is only going to be registered in the first environment where you have logged in.
The second environment will have different keys and will have no record of the user session listed in the cookie information.
When the second server is presented with the cookies from your browser session it will try to make use of them and will not be able to.


RESOLUTION:

Clear the IE browser cache using the following steps:

  1. Click Tool, Internet Option
  2. Under Browsing history, click Delete
  3. Uncheck “Preserve favorites website data
  4. Click Delete
  5. Close the browser
  6. Login again.
