Cannot edit the System Maximum field

The System Maximum field is a non-editable field that displays the maximum character length for fields.

If you need to store more information for a field, you can create a new custom text field. Custom text fields can store more than 255 characters and can be added to the entity dialog tab from Configurable Field Layout.
