Cognos 10 not available in Changepoint

Symptoms

This is a very specific scenario with the following symptoms:

  • The "Cognos is currently unavailable" message is displayed at the top of the Changepoint user interface.
  • You can access Cognos manually using the URL and a valid session ID. Cognos Connection launches and works normally and reports can be run.
  • There is no error in the Windows Events log, such as" Changepoint cannot connect to the Cognos URL".
  • There are no errors in the Cognos log file or the ChangepointCAP log file.
  • You have double-checked that all URLs and configuration are correct, or are in the same environment where Cognos used to work.

Reason

This issue can be related to missing access rights on the folder C:\Windows\temp.

Resolution

Grant read and write rights to to the Changepoint Enterprise application pool user to C:\Windows\temp.
