What means displaymode in titledefinition? v2012 SP1

We're populating the table TitleDefinition with field definitions imported from a third party system.
In Changepoint 2012 SP1 there is a new column 'DisplayMode' in that table. What is it for and how to populate it?

TitleDefinition.DisplayMode is a field that was introduced with V2012 SP1 to support unlimited UDF for expenses.

It corresponds to the setting 'Show by default on expense report' when defining an expense UDF field in System Manager. It is safe to set it to 0 by default for any new UDF that is not relevant for expense reports.
