Error accessing a data provider after importing an updated version of it

Symptoms

A data provider was updated, including changing the provider category in a development or test system. The updated data provider was imported into production.

The following error occurred when accessing the data provider tree view and searching for the updated data provider:

Item has already been added. Key in dictionary: \u002727..... Key being added: \u002727 ....


Reason

The change of the provider category is not properly handled during the import.

Resolution

Because Changepoint Report Designer is being sunset, there is no patch, but there is a simple workaround:

  1. Access the data provider tree view (Reporting > Data Provider Configuration).
  2. Make sure the search field is empty, and then click "Filter". (the search without criteria succeeds without error).
  3. Find the updated data provider in either the old or new category, and then click on it to edit it.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • If the provider category is incorrect, select the correct provider category
    • If the provider category is correct, change any other field to trigger a change, for example, edit the description
  5. Resaving the data provider corrects the provider category data and fixes this issue.
