Unable to copy the projected resources to a project team (2012)

Symptoms:
Resource requests have been created at engagement level and the projected resources list is populated. However, it is not possible to copy these projected resources from engagement to the project team, by using the "Copy from projected resources" function.

Reason:
There may be two reasons for having this problem:

1- “Assigned resource” column is empty in the projected resources list, for the resource requests created at engagement level,

2- There is no resource with “Exempt from resource requests” flag set

Both of these issues should be corrected for the « Copy… » function to work.

Resolution:

1- For a specific resource, tick the “Exempt from …” option in resource profile; save the resource
2- Create a resource request from the engagement:
a. Right-click and select “Insert” in projected resources list
b. Fill in all mandatory fields
c. Right-click and select “Submit request”
d. Click on “Apply”, let the list re-populated
e. Scroll right, find the request link and click on the link to edit the request
3- Edit the request:
a. select the resource from step 1 as the assigned resource,
b. select a resource manager,
c. enter a comment and save the request
4- Close the engagement dialog
5- Check your reminders and approve the assignment, until there is no workflow step to approve
6- After the assignment and the approval, check the resource requests list in the engagement, to be sure that there is a value in the “Assigned resource” column,
7- If there is an assigned resource value, go to project and use the “Copy from …” function

Additional notes:
If there is no assigned resource value at step 6, review your workflow definition and make sure that WFSPLIT_ValidateLevelling and WFCALC_Approve procedures are used correctly, allowing a requested resource to be assigned by following the approval steps in the workflow.
