Preferred resources list or the project team is not respected when assigning resources in project worksheet
Project Worksheet (PW) and Resource Management Worksheet (RMW) referenced in this article are based on Silverlight technology and are no longer available as of Changepoint 2020
SYMPTOMS:Resources that do not exist in preferred resources list and project team are available for task assignments in project worksheet.
REASON:
Resources having the "Exempt from resource requests" flag enabled can be assigned to any task without resource requests. Such resources do not need to be in preferred resources list or in project team.
RESOLUTION:
Deselect the "Exempt from resource requests" flag in the User Setup page, for the resource not to be exempt from resource requests.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
The “Exempt from resource requests” flag is not supported in certain pages:
- When resource requests are enabled for engagements or projects, it is possible to create project team entries in the edit project page, and task assignments in the project worksheet, for exempt resources. It is also possible to create project team entries and task assignments in the resource management worksheet. However, it is not possible to create task assignments for exempt resources in the create/edit task page.
- When resource requests are enabled for tasks, it is still possible to create task assignments for exempt resources in the resource management worksheet. However, it is not possible to create task assignments for exempt resources in the create/edit task page or in the project worksheet.
