Unable to change Company / Engagement / Project on Expenses

Question
Users are unable to change the Company, Engagement or Project fields on Expense Items not yet part of an expense report. Please advise if there is a setting or configuration which would allow changes to these fields, since there are a significant number of line items to be changed.
 

Answer
The expense have to be created again as these fields are non-editable after saving.
