Actual time - difference between project/task view and reports

SYMPTOMS

There are custom reports in our system (running off the time data provider/time query subject) that show the total actual time per task and per project. When comparing this to the actual hours/days displayed in the project worksheet, there are sometimes differences.

REASON

In Changepoint there is a setting called time control. The current setting can be seen in system management - time and expense - time control. It has one of the three following values

  • entered
  • submitted
  • approved

Time is considered as actual time for a task or for the project only if it has been entered, submitted or approved, depending on this setting. So there might be actual time entries in the time table that are not yet booked as actual time for the task /project.

RESOLUTION

Reports need to take care of the time control setting chosen for the organization and filter time records from the time table accordingly. Then the totals will match.
