Is it possible to define new configurable field sections in a profile page?

This is not possible. For each entity, the sections (like General, Configurable fields, ...) are predefined and it is not possible to add, remove or rename these sections.

It is possible to add, rename or remove custom field groups and place them into the existing sections.
