Cost rate for resources not showing on report

Symptoms

We are running a report Project Profitability and we are missing the cost rate for majority of the resources on this report. We are expecting that the cost rate of the resource should show but I am unable to figure out why the rate is $0.

We have checked the engagement setup and resource rate on their profiles. We have checked the Billing office setting to use Resource Cost rates.

Reason

Billing Office was set up to use Billing Role Cost which was zero. Set up was changed few months later on to use Resource cost rate but Time records were already processed by the Update Time Rate job.

Resolution

Add to the Billing Rates tab of the Engagement(s) line with Resource(s) name only; It will bring in Resource cost setup. (there was no billing rate setup on the resource profile) so next run of the Update Time Rate job will update the records with the Cost Rate from the Resource profile.

Alternatively, if you don't want to 'freeze' a certain rate at engagement level, just doing any rate change at engagement or resource level would also cause cost rates to be recalculated.
