Cognos Scheduled report emails are not going out

SYMPTOMS:
Cognos scheduled report emails haven't been going out for a while. The IBM Cognos service was restarted but that didn't fix the issue. All of them are showing the following:

ERROR/WARNING MESSAGES:
Status: Waiting

REASON:
SMTP server IP changed



RESOLUTION:
Updated the Cognos, Notification - Component Properties>>SMTP mail server with the Server name so that changing the IP address does not impact Cognos emails
