Not able to assign a new resource in MSP

Symptoms:
When linking most projects from MSP and trying to add a resource, the dropdown contains all the preferred resources of the project manager. On the other hand, while linking a new project under certain engagements the project manager is only able to see the existing resources in the project; not a single preferred resource is visible.

Reason:
The "Override Task Restriction" option was not checked for the engagement under which the projects were being created.


Resolution:
Enable the "Override Task Restriction" option at engagement level.
