The field [field name] is not editable error when the configurable field is hidden

Question
A configurable field is set up to be hidden based on a conditional property. When the same field is modified by the user or by another conditional value rule, and then gets hidden based on the conditional property rule, "The field ... is not editable" message is displayed when trying to save the entity?

 

 

Answer
Fields that are hidden by conditional rules cannot be modified, the system will tell you that these fields are not editable, as they are hidden. This behaviour is by design.

If a conditional value is also being assigned to the same field while it gets hidden, modify conditional property rule(s) so that the field is not hidden.

If there are no conditional values, but the user must change the field value before saving the entity, then save the changes before hiding these fields i.e. before the conditional property rule is triggered.
