Symptoms

When logging in, a message box pops up saying the user is already logged in. This happens especially in the morning when we're sure that the user is not logged in.

Error/warning messages

You are currently signed in to another session. If you continue, the current session will be terminated and unsaved data will be lost.

 

Reason

This can happen when a user didn't properly log out of Changepoint, e.g. the day before.

Resolution

Changepoint provides a job 'Session Clean up' that solves this issue. This job needs to be enabled and scheduled (e.g. every 5 minutes) in SQL Management Studio. When activated, the job checks for inactive sessions and removes them. Thus users will no longer get the message 'You are currently signed in to another session'.
