The "Export to Excel" feature on reports is suitable for exporting the result up to 2000 rows. There is as a possibility of performance issues which results in timeout errors, if this limit is passed.

Here are some alternatives to consider:

  • Use additional filters to narrow down the report result.
  • Use report scheduler and send the result via email in CSV or HTML format. For very large reports, additional filters need to be implemented to make a smaller range of data.
  • Copy the results from the report and paste into Excel.
  • Use a direct link to the SQL database, via a dts package, or by using the native Excel functionality to connect to a SQL data source.
