Missing time entries in reports

SYMPTOMS

When running reports on time records, a user noticed differences between the production system and the test system. In the test system, the user has more data returned than in production. It appears as if data belonging to certain workgroups is not listed in production.

What determines which time records will be shown on a report?


ANSWER

To determine which time records appear in reports using the time data provider (or the time query subject in Cognos), Changepoint applies workgroup security.

SOLUTION

To make sure time records for a certain workgroup will be listed, grant workgroup access to the user running the report. This access can be granted directly to the user, or to a role that the user has.

Notes

  • A user has always workgroup access to his own workgroup, this does not need to be granted explicitely
  • Workgroup access always automatically includes access to any child workgroup
