How can we add hyperlinks to Cognos reports?(2012 SP1)

QUESTION:
When using the standard Changepoint Report Designer it is possible to add hyperlinks in the reports which would take the user to another part of the system; i.e. a report showing invoice numbers would allow the user to click the invoice number and view that invoice.

It is possible to achieve this in Cognos?

ANSWER:
For having links to profile pages, add a query item called 'Profile link' into the report (if its available in the query subject). It would insert a column with some JavaScript that will link to the entity profile page in Changepoint (when the report is run from Changepoint only, not from Report Studio). Change the Data Item Value to something else than Profile link (otherwise a JavaScript error will appear in the report).

Please remember also this note from the installation guide:
"... If any report that report consumers need to run contains a link to a profile page, grant "Execute" permissions to the HTML Items in Report capability to the base user."

If this permission was not granted during installation, it has to be done from Cognos Administration. For more information, see the "Secured Functions and Features" section in the IBM Cognos Business Intelligence Administration and Security Guide.
