This field was previously called "Billing role effective date". When changing the billing role within the duration of a task assignment, the purpose of this field is to indicate the date that the old billing role should expire and no longer apply to the task assignment.

When you edit a billing role for a task assignment the Billing role expiry date field becomes mandatory. You must select a date after which the old billing role should expire. When you are associating a billing role to a task for the first time, the Billing role expiry date field is also mandatory. This is because the task assignment was previously saved without a billing role association, and the database has stored that record as “no billing role association”. You will still need to select a date to indicate when the “no billing role association” expires.

Additional Notes

Once entered and saved, no further changes before that expiry date are possible. Subsequent changes of the billing role are only possible at later dates.
