Incorrect Cost Rates being applied

QUESTION:
There are engagements setup with auto-update costs and billing office set with Use Resource Cost Rate.  The system is assigning the cost rate for a contractor resource based on a cost rate on the role.

ANSWER:

1. The Resource level Cost rate should be taken when there is no Billing Rates existing at the engagement level for this resource. At the engagement level, when you set the Resource at the Billing rate level on the engagement this will lock in this value. If a new resource profile rate is introduced, it must be manually updated at the engagement level with the feature “override resource rates”.

What you can do: Manually add the new cost rate for the resource to the engagement first, and then the Update Time Rate job will update the rate for impacted time records. Ensure to set the correct effective date and set the new entry as active.

To clarify the update time rate job, the Update Time Rate job only updates the rate for time, not the rate at the engagement level.

Moving forward:

2. The way to avoid this in the future, only select the Staffing Level and keep the resource section blank. Changepoint will check that there is no rates set specifically for this resource, it will then look at the resource profile level for the configured rates.
