QUESTION:

1. I have copied a Cognos report (Monthly project financials) from the secured model to the unsecured model. I ran the report for a user and she cannot see all the projects. Please let me know if the steps I followed are incorrect.

2. How do we restrict access to only a group of people from Canada? Is it through the properties of the report in the BI Reporting Connection?

ANSWER:

1. Edit the report in Report Studio. Select ‘File, report package’. Select the ‘Changepoint unsecured’ package and then save the report (or do a ‘save as’ to a different folder). Just saving the report into a different folder is not enough. The report itself points to a package.

2. You can set access in Cognos Connection to the individual report or folder. As a best practice, save all your reports that use the unsecured model into the same folder structure (for example, under the ‘Changepoint unsecured’ package). Then it’s easier to organize them and set access. There are instructions in the release notes for general patch 17.02.087.000, where the un-secured model was introduced, with regards to how to set access to the package and reports.
