The Workflow Trigger Table keeps getting loaded with records that don't clear after job runs v2012

Symptoms

Workflow trigger table fills up with thousands of entries, which slows the job down.

Error/warning messages
no errors

Reason

The workflow job runs but does not clear out the workflowtrigger table. As the workflow job is at default scheduled to run every 30 minutes if it has tens of thousands of entries to process each time this causes performance issues.
 

Workaround
Clear out the table manually

Resolution

This has been addressed in version 2014 and general patch for 16.01: 16.01.143.000
