Additional updates as necessary To support our goal of getting working features to customers faster, we may deliver a release outside of the monthly cycle to provide new, low-risk functionality and/or essential issue fixes.

Releases are deployed during the standard maintenance windows.

Reminders

  • Features that are ready will enter GA status in the first month's release of each calendar quarter: January, April, July, October. There will be an occasional variance from this schedule. You can enter a support request to move a beta feature into your production environment.
  • You can request that beta features be enabled in your production environment by entering a support ticket (some beta features not initially available in production, Planview will advise). Please note that any issues you find will be handled during the normal development cycle. 
  • Planview sends out status emails in advance of planned and non-planned releases/updates/incidents. These alerts include the date and time window of the releases/updates/incident, as well as a link to the release notes that include a list of the issues addressed in the releases/updates/incident. To subscribe to these alerts, please go to https://status.planview.com/ and click the Subscribe button.
  • We typically hold a live product release webinar on the Wednesday before the production release. This webinar will be hosted by PPM Pro product management and consulting personnel, and will include time for Q&A. Click here to register for the March 17th release webinar.   • Inner circles are offered as a way for our interested customers to collaborate with PPM Pro Product Management and each other, provide feedback on PPM Pro product capabilities, and guide new feature development. Click here for more information or to register.

New International Inner Circle!

The PPM Pro International inner circle is specifically for our global customers who often miss out on our regular customer monthly release and quarterly roadmap webinars due to time zone differences. Although those official webinars are recorded, watching them is not the same as actively learning about and seeing key enhancements and feature demos, as well as being able to have live questions and answers. Likewise for our quarterly roadmap webinars.

This inner circle will meet on the same days as our official monthly release and roadmap webinars, but at times more convenient for Central Europe/Middle East and again for Asia/Pacific. Please join this circle if you would like to receive meeting invites to these reprises of the monthly and quarterly customer webinars held at a more convenient time for our international customers. We are kicking off this inner circle with the March release on March 17th at the following two times: 10 am CET/2:30 IST, and, 9 am Japan/1 pm New Zealand.

Financial Entries 1546153751

Fixed. You can manipulate values in contours, including adding, deleting, editing values in adjacent or non-adjacent cells, as expected. Previous, an issue caused the system to throw an error when trying to edit a record that contained one or more null cells in between cells with values.

Fixed. System sluggishness has been addressed. Previously, an issue with how user records were retrieved from the database was impacting performance.

Projects, Forecast 1532143128

Fixed. Copying a project from a template, including financial forecast entries and their notes, works as expected. Previously, if a project was copied from a template and any of its forecast entries had more than one note associated with it, the system threw an error.

Requests 1536534220

Fixed. When a request is put on hold and then edited, if a user chooses Place Back in Progress without first saving the request, a dialog appears reminding them to save or discard their changes, as expected. Previously, the system threw an error when the user attempted to click the Yes button (to save the edits) in the confirmation modal.

Requests, Filters 153317186

Fixed. The request Submission Date field can now be used in filters with the entire catalog of operands, such as "is today", "is after", and "is next week". Previously, only the "is" and "is not" operands were available.

Dashboards Revamp

Release Notes

Feature Area LeanKit Card Release Note Description
Calculated Fields 1534919263 Fixed. You can sort by the Usage column in the Calculated Fields grid, as expected. Previously, an issue prevented sorting on the Usage column, and caused the system to throw an error when those users who previously had sorted on Usage tried to access the Calculated Fields grid.
Calculated Fields   New. The Calculated Fields UI has been moved to the Organization tab, as it needed to be divorced from Legacy reports since that UI will eventually disappear. The Organization tab promises to abide by the marriage settlement agreement and allow full users who are in the Admin or Org groups to have visitation rights create/edit/delete calculated fields; full users who do not belong to those groups can view.
Calculated Fields   New. You can now search on calculated field Title in the Calculated Fields grid. It's true!
Filters, SSA 1534892975 Fixed. When adding a filter to a restricted List field (Admin > Setup > All Entities > Projects > Available Fields), once the field is saved, the filter value appears in the Filter field, as expected. Previously, an issue caused the filter value to appear only if the field it was configured on was unrestricted.
Lookup Lists 1527374948 Fixed. You can configure hover text for lookup list values (by entering the text you wish to display in a value's Description field) and view the text in the rendered lookup list, as expected. Previously an issue caused HTML markup to appear in the hover text if rich text was used in the Description's text.
Lookup Lists 1521677545 New. The Admin/Setup/Lookup List grids can now be exported to Excel by choosing Actions > Export to Excel. Note that you export each side of the Lookup Lists page separately - there is an Actions menu for Lookup Lists on the left-hand side, and an Actions menu on the right-hand side for the List Values of a selected lookup list.
Permissions UI 1521676361

Improved. We have overhauled the Admin/Permission Profiles page to include an ad-hoc filter at the top of the page. Like other pages that use this filter, you can, among other things, search directly for text matches, use filter fields to further define your search criteria, as well as save filters for reuse. In addition, the two sides of the page - Profiles on the left, Rules and Hierarchy tree on the right - can now be resized separately. This will help you optimize the experience of using this page.

Projectplace Integration 1527568178

Fixed. A Projectplace workspace is created as expected after syncing a PPM Pro template project that include tasks without values for duration or start/target dates. Previously, an issue preventing a successful sync between PPM Pro and Projectplace if the PPM Pro project was a template.

Projectplace Integration 1341091130

Fixed. When syncing one project from PPM Pro to Projectplace, one workspace is created in Projectplace. Previously, duplicate Projectplace workspaces were created after syncing with one PPM Pro project.

Projects 1521674057

New. For organizations that have a strict workflow around the creation of new projects - namely, all projects must be created from a request - there is a new configuration option that allows an organization to hide the New project button in all areas of the UI except the Request feature. When enabled, users will be able to create a new project from a request's Association tab only (ensure that the request Category is configured to support project associations, and also ensure that the project Category supports request associations, and that the users creating the projects have the appropriate permissions).

Note that Data Import and WS API will still support creating new projects, even if this configuration option is enabled.

Please enter a Customer Care ticket if you wish to limit creation of projects from requests only (ask to 'hide the New project button').

Reports, Multi-Currency 1454449865

Fixed. Effective dates for currency exchange rates are working as expected in Financial Planning Time Series reports. Previously, an issue was preventing effective dates for currency exchange rates from being applied properly when an allocation or schedule spanned more than one exchange rate effective date.

Requests 1541939343 Improved. Performance improvements on rendering of request grid and opening request forms.
Requests 1531355940 New. The Request: 'Assigned to' filter field now includes 'Is' and 'Is Not Empty' operands.
Resources 1526720394

Improved. The lists associated with the issue Assigned To and task Owners fields no longer include terminated resources.

Roles 1527511942

New. The Admin/Organization/Roles grid can now be exported to Excel by choosing Actions > Export to Excel.

Tasks 1536199168

Fixed. Task Change history now displays correctly. Previously, an issue caused cause task Change History to show the wrong action and the wrong modifier. Note that while the data was displayed incorrectly on the Change History UI, it was stored properly in the database. For example, audit reports still rendered correctly even though the data on the Change History UI was incorrect.

Timesheets 1521679436

Improved. There are three areas having to do with declaring timesheet approval 'overdue' if the timesheet has not been approved within a specified number of hours after the timesheet period ends. In all three of these areas, listed below, the hour limit has been increased to 336 (in order to accommodate 2 full weeks):

  • Mark unsubmitted timesheet overdue NN hours after timesheet period ends
  • Mark PM approvals overdue NN hours after timesheet period ends
  • Mark Final approvals overdue NN hours after timesheet period ends
