What's New - February 2019
Release Schedule
Click here for an overview of the PPM Pro release process.
The table below lists this month's product release dates.
What | When |
---|---|
Release Notes published | February 1 |
System released to sandbox environments | February 8, 10 PM - 1 AM PT |
System released to production environments |
February 22, 10 PM - 1 AM PT Based on recommendations from our QA team we decided not to proceed with a production release on Friday, February 15. It never feels good missing a release date but we believe that it's better to wait and deliver a solid release than to push one that could be a negative experience for our customers. We will be updating sandboxes Feb 15. |
Releases are deployed during the standard maintenance windows, which are Fridays, 10 PM PT - 1 AM PT.
Reminders
- Features that are ready will enter GA status in the first month's release of each calendar quarter: January, April, July, October. There will be an occasional variance from this schedule. You can enter a support request to move a beta feature into your production environment.
- You can request that beta features be enabled in your production environment by entering a support ticket. Please note that any issues you find will be handled during the normal development cycle.
- Planview sends out status emails in advance of planned releases/updates. These alerts include the date and time window of the update, as well as a link to the release notes that include a list of the issues addressed in the update/release. To subscribe to these alerts, please go to https://status.planview.com/ and click the Subscribe button.
- We hold a live product release webinar - typically on the Wednesday before the production release. This webinar will be hosted by PPM Pro product management and consulting personnel, and will include time for Q&A. This is the February 13 webinar recording. Click here to register for the March 13 release webinar.
- Inner circles are offered as a way for our interested customers to collaborate with PPM Pro Product Management and each other, provide feedback on PPM Pro product capabilities, and guide new feature development. Click here for more information or to register.
Update 3
Release planned for Friday March 8, pending QA approval.
Function Area | ID | Release Note Description |
---|---|---|
Project | 804152052 | Fixed. When creating a project from a template, the project is created correctly and includes the elements the user selected - specifically, the correct financial entries are copied to the new project. Previously, an issue was causing all financial financial entries to be copied, not just those associated with the template project. |
Reports | 802876674 | Fixed. Reports based on the report source "All Timesheet entries made by Resources in a Division" returns entries for all resources in a division. Previously, an issue was causing this report to return project time for a division rather than resource time. |
WS API | 804755300 | Fixed. When using the API to import monetary values, the values are rendered correctly. Previously, an issue was causing an error to be displayed instead of the monetary value. |
Update 2
Release planned for Friday March 1, pending QA approval.
Function Area | ID | Release Note Description |
---|---|---|
Dashboards | 795033727 | Fixed. Users can now successfully drill down from published dashboards regardless of whether they are logged in to the application or not. If the user is not logged in, a popup will prompt to login and then return the user to the drilldown correctly. Previously, after logging in from the login prompt, the user was incorrectly redirected to the application. |
Filters | 802165676 | Fixed. Filters that include sub-filters will return expected results. The full fix for this issue was targeted for March, but has been included in this update instead. Yay! |
History | 802224636 | Fixed. Project, Portfolio, Project Staffing and Project Log History updating as expected. Previously, an issue caused the history data to be stored, but not displayed. |
Reports | 802071991 | Fixed. Audit history reports are working as expected, including being able to pull current values from fields in the Related Folder. |
Update 1
Release planned for Tuesday February 26, pending QA approval.
Function Area | ID | Release Note Description |
---|---|---|
Calculated Fields | 801606520 | Fixed. Calculated fields that include expressions where one or both are null are computed correctly. |
Filters | 802165676 | Fixed. In most cases, filters that include sub-filters will return expected results. If you are not getting expected results, move the sub-filter so that it is the last criterion in your filter. A full fix for this issue is targeted for the March release. |

New Requests! (aka Requests revamp) This feature will be rolled out over the course of several releases ("rolling beta"). We will update this list every month to indicate when/what additional features will be included. Legacy requests will continue to be supported for the foreseeable future. You can use legacy requests and new requests side-by-side while you set up the new requests to your liking. Since the new model is different from the legacy in several key ways, we are not planning an automated migration at this time. |

WS API Update |
We have updated our SOAP API infrastructure, which included addressing an issue with our WSDL. Previously the WSDL indicated MinOccurs = "0" (meaning not required) on all fields - even those that were actually required. For example: <xs:element type="xs:string" name="sessionId" minOccurs="0" nillable="true"/> The minOccurs attribute now appears only if the field is not required. |

Release Notes
Function Area | ID | Release Note Descriptions |
---|---|---|
Baselines | 766999267 | Fixed. The paging controls on the project Baselines section work as expected. Previously, clicking the "Next" icon did not move to the next page of baselines. |
Bulk Editor | 791009591 |
Improved. Occasionally the bulk editor will have more than the maximum number of 20 fields in the Selected Fields panel (the panel title will say, for example, "21 shown, max 20". If you see this, you are not hallucinating. This can occur if the grid columns in SSA are configured with additional fields, which, when combined with the fields an end user has configured in the bulk editor, exceeds the max of 20. If this situation presents itself to a user when configuring columns for the editor, a new message appears that explains to the user what has happened, and suggests that if they need to add fields, they'll first need to remove some to get the total count under 20. |
Dashboards | 779989907 | Fixed. Viewing a dashboard that contains a time series report and a date range filter (such as 'is between') works as expected. An issue was causing problems with this scenario if the locale was set to Non-US locales. |
Data Import | Improved. New UI for importing data. | |
History | Improved. The Actions > History window on any entity now includes an Action column, whose value describes the action: New, Modify. | |
Internationalization, Dashboard | 790825182 | Fixed. For any locale that has a date format of dd/mm/yyyy, selecting a time summary period for dashboards works as expected. An issue was causing the dates to be evaluated as mm/dd/yyyy. |
Portfolio | 794602328 | Fixed. When deleting a portfolio that is associated with one or more projects, references to those associations are removed. Previously, some references due to the association(s) were left behind, which caused errors when interacting with the project's Associations section |
Reports | 81959314 | Fixed. Audit history reports return data about deleted |
Scoring | 790839073 | Fixed. Users can add a category and criteria to a scoring profile. Previously, an issue was preventing the changes to the profile to be saved. |
Tasks | 773854294 | Fixed. Users can use the date-picker control to select a Complete Date, regardless of the selected locale. Previously, an issue was causing a validation error and preventing a date from being selected if a non-US locale was being used. |
Timesheet Alerts | 786638743 | Fixed. When creating/sending timesheet alerts, any variables used in the subject/message are rendering with the correct value. Previously an issue was causing the variable itself to appear in the message text. |
Timesheet Alerts | 790421829 | Fixed. Scheduled timesheet alerts are being sent as expected. Previously, an issue was preventing scheduled timesheet alerts from sending. |
Timesheet Alerts | 766914682 | Fixed. Users can edit the message of an existing schedule-based timesheet alert (sent daily, monthly, or weekly) without disrupting the scheduled job. Previously, editing the message of schedule-based timesheet alert resulted in multiple alerts be sent to the recipient(s). |
