Adding a phase

To add Phases, click the plus sign between Phase 1 and Closing Phase (green arrow, below). You can also add a phase when you are finished with the Event details by clicking the Next button at the bottom of the detail pane.  Phases relate to challenge progress (time and available activities).

NOTE

There are no more Stages in IdeaPlace NextGen, just Phases, which are timebound and configurable. See the IdeaPlace User Guide for the definition of a Phase.

           

 

           

NOTE

A Standard Challenge consists of 4-5 phases, typically:

  1. Ideation and Collaboration 
  2. Voting and Commenting
  3. Expert Review
  4. Idea Selection/Closing

           

Click on the new Phase and enter its details in the Phase details pane to the right.

Phase Details

The topmost form on the pane will lead you through crafting the user-facing launch of your challenge.

Phase name

Keep the default or create your own name for this phase.

Phase description

Announce your event and prompt the audience to respond.

Phase ends/Date/Time

Enter/select the start and duration of this phase. 

Activities 

As you check any or all of Post idea, Edit idea, Voting, and/or Commenting, a tag is created in the Activities box.

Idea Question Form/Idea Selection Details

On the second section of the pane, edit and/or add fields/prompts here to guide the ideator in the crafting of their idea. Defaults are for Idea title, description and media.

This will give you the following screen/popup.

b. Fill out the fields and click the Add button.

c. You can rephrase the Idea title and description prompts the ideator receives as you wish: from the Default idea selection prompts shown in the screenshot for Step a. Click the pencil icon by the Idea title. The following screen appears.

Announcements

Similar to first phase. If you wish to announce the Closing phase via email, click the Yes radio button and edit the default Subject and Body of the email.

Notify idea owners if their idea is selected

If you wish to contact the idea owner, click the Yes radio button. Subject and Body of email are modifiable.

Announcements

Notifications have been simplified in IdeaPlace NextGen. Standard announcements can be sent via Planview Notifications Service. There are no email templates.

If you would like to send an email to event participants, click the Yes radio button. Edit the Subject and Body fields as needed.

Outgoing workflow

Add rule: 

To add a rule for moving ideas between phases, click +Add rule. Select required number of votes, comments, views and/or Average star rating. Click Add.

Your rule's parameters will appear as ovals on the Outgoing workflow section. Click Next if you are finished creating this phase.

SAVE DRAFT

You can save a draft at any time in the process by clicking the Save Draft icon in the upper right of the Home page.

NEXT/PREVIOUS

When you are finished with this Phase, click the Next button at the bottom of the page. 

Create additional phases in the same way.
