Planview ProjectPlace Improvement Ideas

Improvement Ideas (Features and Enhancements)

Customers can enter improvement ideas via the in ProjectPlace Ideas. This ongoing IdeaPlace (formerly known as Spigit) campaign enables customers not only to submit their ideas for improvement, but to browse and vote on other customer ideas; in fact, customers should browse or search before submitting, in case their idea is already in the campaign!

Ideas move through the following campaign stages based on their votes, views and comments, with appropriate notifications to the idea owner and anyone who has subscribed to the idea:

Planview follows a Lean and Agile approach that enables us to further manage our product evolution strategically and efficiently so that we can best meet our customer, market, and corporate needs. This process includes quarterly PI planning to identify and plan both feature and enhancement work. On a quarterly basis, the Planview ProjectPlace Product Management team evaluates the stage 2 and 3 ideas based on several factors such as:

  • Total votes, views and comments
  • The number of different customers voting
  • The level of development effort required
  • Team skills and availability

Then, the top-evaluated ideas for consideration are manually moved into the backlog and set to Prioritized (stage 4). If the ideas are on our roadmap and planned or ongoing in the quarter’s PI planning they will be moved to Accepted (stage 5). Ideas that are not selected to move to stage 4 or 5 will be archived. Any enhancements in lower stages that require very low development effort and/or could be addressed at the same time as other planned feature work may also be manually moved into stage 5. Once development completes implementation and release, ideas will be moved to the Implemented stage. Any ideas that are in the Submission stage and have not been able to graduate to the next stage will be automatically archived after a year from the time they were posted.

During the evaluation, any ideas that are of a similar character are merged.

Delivered ideas are captured in each relevant month's release notes in the Recent Updates section.
