Access the Asset Placeholder module

Asset placeholders are entities that you can add to work entries to model equipment or other needs in a project before assigning actual assets to it.

In Production companies, Project Managers tend to plan the capacity of instruments, machinery or equipment on Work Item and manage financials independently from User resources. These placeholder are assigned to Tasks and Projects during the initial planning phase to see the impact of the planned work on resource capacity and to establish financial estimates for cost and revenue purposes.

The Asset Placeholder module displays all of the asset placeholders that have been added to the organization. Asset placeholders are associated with an Asset Type and Rate Group in order to use the Group or Asset Type Calendar.

There is no capacity, timesheets, permissions, or license associated with Asset placeholders.

Who can do this?

Your organization's Admin can define whether your Profile has access to this module and if you can add or delete items. Profile configuration for the entity will define related items, fields, actions and other layouts that Users will access to.

  1. Go to the Asset Placeholders module.
  2. The Asset placeholders List appears.

  3. Click an asset placeholders name in the List to view its detailed information and related items.

The Relations Panel on the right-hand side of the screen displays Rate Groups, Rates, and Work Items of a selected item in the grid, and enables working with the related items while staying in context of your original view.

  4. Click one or multiple asset placeholders and select an action from the ribbon.

You can add, activate, or delete asset placeholders. In addition, standard common actions are available in the ribbon and allows you to export and import the list of placeholders, and access resource management interfaces and reports.
