Contract Management provides a structured approach to managing contractual information and associating it with delivery work in support of Professional Services Automation (PSA). It ensures that commercial agreements, service delivery, and financial processes remain aligned throughout the project lifecycle.

In PSA-driven organizations, contracts define what services are delivered, under which terms, and how delivery is tracked financially. Contract Management serves as the commercial foundation of PSA by connecting contractual agreements directly to execution activities.

By linking contracts to Projects, Milestones, and Tasks, organizations can:

  • Maintain visibility into which work is contractually covered

  • Track delivery against agreed commercial terms

  • Reduce reliance on external systems or manual tracking

  • Support consistent financial reporting and system integrations

Contract Management supports common professional services scenarios, including:

  • Managing long-running engagements with multiple funding sources

  • Tracking delivery across multiple projects under a single master contract

Revenue Recognition and Integrations

Contract Management provides the structural foundation for revenue recognition integrations with external ERP systems.

  • Revenue recognition rollups and financial adjustments are calculated and included at the Contract level based on the associated Work Items

  • Contract and delivery data can be selectively included in integration workflows based on configuration

Application Modules

Contract Management introduces two core modules:

  • Contracts

  • Contract Purchase Orders

These modules are available from both the Profile and Configuration areas of the application.

Contracts

  • Contracts represent the primary commercial agreement governing professional services delivery

  • A contract can be associated with multiple Projects, Milestones, or Tasks to define delivery coverage

  • Each individual work item is linked to a single contract, ensuring clear commercial ownership

  • Contracts may include sub-contracts, which are included in financial rollups

  • Financial aggregation reflects direct associations and parent relationships only

Contract Purchase Orders

  • Contract Purchase Orders represent funding or purchasing references tied to contractual agreements

  • Multiple purchase orders may be associated with a single contract

  • Each purchase order is linked to a single work item

  • Purchase orders provide additional financial and operational context within delivery execution

Relationship to Delivery Work

  • Every work item is associated with one contract, ensuring consistent commercial alignment

  • At the project level, users can view aggregated contract information related to delivery, similar to resource visibility

  • Contract and purchase order associations provide contractual context directly within execution workflows
