Why do I see an error stating 'This method is no longer supported by the catalog service' when querying Visual Studio Online (VSO) or Azure DevOps Services?

We have seen cases where customers receive an error such as, "This method is no longer supported by the catalog service," when connecting to Microsoft Visual Studio Online. This appears to be an intermittent problem that can happen when maintenance is being performed on your VSO project. In cases where this occurs, we recommend stopping Hub and trying again at a later point once VSO maintenance is complete.
