What is the Reprocessing Indicator?

Last Updated: Apri 25  |  Applicable Viz Versions: All

Answer

The Reprocessing Indicator shows that reprocessing is in progress via a more simple interface compared to the previous progress banner. When any component of Flow Metrics, or derived indicators like Bottleneck Finder and/or Insights, are being updated, users will be able to clearly identify what parts are complete and what parts are still pending.

Viz performs multiple forms of reprocessing for different sections of the user interface. Some of the computations are based on the original 1.0 architecture, which operates more slowly than the newer 1.1 architecture. The indicator is designed to provide a single holistic view of the status of all the possible computations, regardless of which architecture is applicable.

Note: Users on the new platform will notice significantly faster reprocessing speeds.

Locating the Reprocessing Indicator

The Reprocessing Indicator is found on the upper right corner of the screen underneath the main menu bar.

Status

The Reprocessing Indicator icon is dynamic, and changes according to the following two states:

In progress

  • When items are reprocessing, the icon shows an exclamation mark inside a rotating arrow. Hovering over the icon displays a pop-up with information including the date and time a specific user made the request, as well as listing what work is currently being reprocessed and what is finished.
  • Note: There are multiple steps during reprocessing, and the data for each is updated as it completes — for example, it is possible for Flow Metrics to be updated while the Flow Item Analyzer is still in progress.

Done

  • When all items are completed, the icon shows a checkmark inside a stationary arrow. Hovering over the icon displays a pop-up listing all the up-to-date items.
