Planview Anvi Agent-to-Agent Connectivity

What is Agent-to-Agent Connectivity?

Imagine that your external AI assistant—such as Microsoft Copilot or Claude—can talk directly to Anvi.

You ask the external assistant:

“Which projects are at risk because key milestones are slipping?”

The external assistant sends that question to Anvi through MCP. Anvi understands Planview’s projects, portfolios, milestones, dependencies, and terminology, analyzes the relevant data, and sends back a natural-language answer. The external assistant then presents that answer to you as part of the same conversation.

The Flow

You → External AI assistant → Anvi → Planview data and intelligence → External AI assistant → You

MCP is essentially the secure communication channel and shared language that lets the two AI systems communicate.

Why This Matters

The external AI does not need to learn Planview’s entire data model or interpret raw Planview data itself. Instead, it can ask Anvi questions in ordinary language and rely on Anvi to interpret the request and provide a meaningful response.

Setting up the connection

To connect to Anvi from an external AI system, you must first make sure that you have the following:

  • An active Anvi license
  • Ability to add a custom connection to your external AI platform

To set up the connection you need these two parameters:

Once you enter these parameters to your AI platform of choice, the system will walk you through the authentication process.

What can I do with it?

Your AI platform will be able to ask Anvi to retrieve information or to make changes to Planview data just as if you were chatting with Anvi from inside of Planview.

Given you entered your credentials when you set up the connection, your AI platform will use those credentials when interacting with Anvi. Anvi will use those credentials when accessing data and tools inside the Plaview platform. This will make sure that you can only see and modify the data that you have permission to.
