Description

This PowerBI report viewer tile widget seamlessly integrates your PowerBI.com reports directly into Planview.Me, providing access to key data alongside other actionable insights and widgets – all within the Planview.Me page. This powerful widget transforms how you access and visualize your organization's data.

Key benefits of the widget include the ability for users to:

  • view and interact with PowerBI.com reports within Planview.Me, while maintaining all security permissions and interactive report features
  • access real-time metrics, financial summaries, and cross-functional data in one consolidated view
  • access full Power BI functionality including tooltips, dynamic visuals, and drill-down capabilities
  • access all data that has been published to PowerBI.com, including data from AgilePlace, ProjectPlace, third-party applications, and so on

Using the Power BI report viewer tile widget

To view the report in the widget in a Planview.Me view, you must first sign in to your Power BI account. Once the report is displayed, you have access to the same functionality in the widget that is available in the report in Power BI.

If the widget has been configured to show a list of reports, you can view a different report by clicking the report name in the top right corner of the widget and selecting a different report.

Configuration settings

You can configure the widget to display a single Power BI report using an embedded Power BI report URL or a list of Power BI reports for the user to select from.

  • Embedded report URL – embed URL for a single Power BI report 
  • Select a report from Power BI – list of the available Power BI reports
Power BI Report URL Available when the Embedded report URL is selected. The embed link for the Power BI report
Default report Available when the Select a report from Power BI option is selected. A list of Power BI reports to select from.

To configure an embedded Power BI report URL

  1. Obtain the link for embedding the Power BI report:
    1. In Power BI, access the Power BI report or dashboard, and then click File > Embed report > Website or Portal. 
    2. To include the action bar in the widget, click Enable action bar.
    3. Copy the link for embedding the content.
    4. Click Close.
  2. In Planview.Me or Planview Admin, access the designer mode for the Planview.Me view that you want to add the widget to.
  3. Add the widget to the view, and then click ellipse_vertical_dk_gray.png> Settings.
  4. For Report source, select Embedded report URL.
  5. Paste the embed link in the Power BI Report URL field and then click Save.
  6. Save the view.
  7. Access the view in Planview.Me to verify that the report is displayed properly in the widget. You might have to adjust the size of the widget or the report in Power BI so that the report is readable and that it fits in the widget. 

To configure a list of Power BI reports

  1. Add the widget to the view, and then click ellipse_vertical_dk_gray.png> Settings.
  2. For Report source, select the Select a report from Power BI option.
  3. If requested, click Sign in to Power BI and then provide your user ID and password credentials. 
  4. In the Default report list, select the report to be displayed when the widget is first displayed in the view by a user. 
  5. Save the view. 
  6. Access the view in Planview.Me to verify that the report is displayed properly in the widget. You might have to adjust the size of the widget or the report in Power BI so that the report is readable and that it fits in the widget. 

           

TIP

If you click the Terms of use or Privacy & cookies links at the bottom of the Microsoft Windows Sign in to your account dialog, the dialog disappears from the foreground and is moved to the background.
