Report Widget – Filter On Insights Project List
A report widget can be used on an insight dashboard so that the report filters on the projects that are included within the insight filter project list.
This article will explain how this can be achieved.
To use the Insights view, a permission setting will need to be turned on. This can be found under the ‘Login Group’ and then going to the ‘Views’ tab:
When the Insight view has been turned on the following insights view can be seen when selecting the Project Globe Icon.
As Insight view gives a summary of the projects included in the list, this can be further amended by modifying the filter to include the desired results.
Report Setup:
The report must be a widget Usage type report otherwise the report cannot be used on a dashboard.
The report which has been setup to demo this is a timesheet widget report, The report will simply show the timesheet data submitted for each resource under a project including the number of hours and months.
The report filter currently includes only one filter which is to show active Projects:
Once the report has been setup the report will need to be made available to a ‘Login Group’
Select the ‘Details’ Tab and in the Access section, select login group:
The report must also be made available to a dashboard otherwise the report will fail to run:
To resolve this please select the ‘Details’ tab and go to Availability’
From the Select dashboard screen select the required dashboard.
To use the report on the insight dashboard please select ‘Projects’
The report is now setup, when the report is refreshed the following results are returned:
The report will now be attached to the insight view dashboard.
To do this first of all select the ‘Project Globe’ icon within here select the filter icon and then click on the green icon which is showing the project count in the insight.
This will then load the Insight Dashboard
The insight dashboard view is currently blank as nothing has been configured

When the report has been attached to the Insight Dashboard then the following results are displayed.
**Please note the timesheet data presented in the widget is not results based on the projects from the Insights project list.
Currently the report is using the filters from the report setup and not from the Insight project list, this is being ignored at this stage due to a missing filter in the report which is to filter on the Insight Project List.
To resolve this, click on Configure in the right-hand corner of the widget.
Select the filters tab and add the following filter:
The token #CONTEXT-PROJECTLIST# is used to filter on a current project list. After the report has been amended then please go back to the insight dashboard.
With the new filter added, the report will only show data for projects that are included in the insight Project List:
