Waterfall Chart

Waterfall charts can give you insight into what is behind changes in total values between a a given starting portfolio and a given ending portfolio. The starting and ending portfolios are represented in the bars on the left and right of the chart, respectively. The floating bars between the portfolios indicate the value of the difference between them. We also have a video tutoral on waterfall charts here.

Waterfall charts are accessed from a portfolio's Summary page. You can configure a waterfall chart by making selections in the options above the chart.

Chart Option Description
Starting Portfolio Selects a portfolio to define the left-most column of the chart. The options available for selection will vary based on your variance analysis settings.
Ending Portfolio Selects a portfolio to define the right-most column of the chart. The options available for selection will vary based on your variance analysis settings.
Left Selects a quantitative field to define the values on the left axis.
Breakdown Selects a field that defines how the bars are split along the bottom axis of the chart.
Group Select field to group total values in each bar.
Color Selects a field that determines the color coding of the chart.

You have the following additional display options in this chart:

  • Name - Displays the label of each segment
  • Value - Displays the value of each segment
  • % - Displays what percentage of the bar the segment represents
  • Totals - Displays the total value of the bar
  • Legend - Displays a legend for the chart. The legend displays the color coding.
