Group Permissions

Group permissions control how much access the members of a user group have to features and data in Planview Advisor. This article describes the permissions and what they allow users to do. To learn how to adjust a group's permissions, see Group Administration.

Administration

Permission Description
User Admin

User Admins can create new users and assign permissions to other users. They cannot modify their own permissions or assign or modify Administrator permissions.

If this is the user's only granted permission, they cannot view projects or portfolios.
Administrator Administrators can function as User Admins and also have all the Project and Portfolio permissions described in the tables below.

Projects

Permission Description
View Projects

Users with this permission can:

  • Open projects to view inputs and reports
  • Create private snapshots
  • Perform analyses in their private workspace
  • Open public snapshots taken by other users
Edit Projects Users with this permission can publish changes that they make to a project's inputs in addition to the actions allowed by the View Projects permission. 
Create Projects Users with this permission can create and copy projects in addition to the actions allowed by Edit Projects permission.
Projects Admin

In addition to the actions allowed by the Create Projects permission, Projects Admin can:

  • delete any project
  • deactivate any project
  • rename any project
  • change ownership of any project

Portfolios

Permission Description
View Portfolios

Users with this permission can view public portfolio.

           

NOTE

To view a portfolio, a user must have permission to view every project in that portfolio in addition to this permission.

           
Create Portfolios

In addition to the actions allowed by the permission above, this permission allows users to:

  • Create and copy portfolios
  • Delete portfolios
  • Add or remove snapshots from portfolios they own
  • Give other users read/write access to their portfolios

           

NOTE

Users can only add snapshots to their portfolio from projects that they have permission to view.

           
Configure Portfolios

In addition to the actions allowed by the permission above, this permission allows users to:

  • Add or remove snapshots from any portfolio that they have permission to view.

Create Public Snapshots This permission allows users to create snapshots that other users can view.

Global Permissions

Permission Description
Global Project This permission allows users to view and publish to the Global Project.
