Snapshot Archiving

You can archive snapshots to hide little- or never-used snapshots from system screens in order to streamline your users' experience and performance. Archived snapshots do not appear in screens such as Portfolio Configuration, Snapshot Administration, and the Snapshot Dashboard. Archived snapshots are also excluded from mass snapshot refreshes triggered by changes to analytics and/or Global Data.

ADMIN

This is an optional feature.  Please contact Planview to activate this feature for your instance of Planview Advisor.

Activating this feature adds the Archived Snapshot Administration page to your Admin tab. Only Administrators can access this page.

To archive snapshots:
  1. On the Admin tab, click Snapshot Administration

  1. Select the snapshots to be archived and click Archive Selected at the top of the page.

    NOTE

Only Unlocked, Named (static/dynamic) and Dated snapshots can be archived. Latest Published Data (LPD), Labeled, or Locked snapshots cannot be archived.

The selected snaphots will be archived and can be viewed in the Archived Snapshot Administration page. If a large number of snapshots is archived, the process may take some time to complete. When a user opens a portfolio containing one or more archived snapshots, the user will be warned that the portfolio contains archived snapshots. Archived snapshots will not be included in the opened portfolio nor will they be included in the snapshot count for that portfolio.

To restore archived snapshots:
  1. On the Admin tab, click Archived Snapshot Administration

  1. Select the snapshots to be restored and click Restore Selected at the top of the page.

Restored snapshots will be queued for refresh and may take some time to become available. If a snapshot was included in a portfolio prior to its archiving, it will be restored to that portfolio.
