About templates for Planview.Me views

Templates are Planview.Me views that provide a starting point for users to create additional views that contain the same widgets or a similar set of widgets rather than having to create views from the beginning each time.

There are sample templates that are named after and geared toward specific personas, such as product manager and product manager. The sample templates are created by Planview and include the widgets that display data and insights of interest to the personas. Sample templates cannot be edited, but you can create a copy of one, which you can then edit.

You can also create your own blank template and add widgets to it. When creating a template, you add widgets and arrange their layout but you do not configure the widgets. The widget settings are configured when a view is created based on a template. Keep in mind that not all widgets are available in all Planview.Me locations and therefore the layout might be different in views created based on templates. For example, some widgets are available in Planview.Me and My overview in Planview Portfolios but not in work portfolio or work item screens. NOTES

Templates are not available for use in personal views. They are available to users who have Planview Admin access and they cannot be shared with other users.

           

To create a Planview.Me view template

  1. In Planview Admin, click Settings and then click the Services tab.
  2. Click the Settings button for the Planview.Me environment that you want to add the view to. The list of views appears.
  3. Click the Templates tab.
  4. Click Create template
  5. Enter a name and description for then click Save and continue.
  6. In the designer view, add widgets and configure the view layout by creating sections. For more information, see Managing Planview.Me views (Administrators only).
  7. Click Save.

To duplicate a sample Planview.Me view template

  1. In Planview Admin, click Settings and then click the Services tab.
  2. Click the Settings button for the Planview.Me environment that you want to add the view to. The list of views appears.
  3. Click the Templates tab.
  4. Click the sample template. Sample templates show Planview as the owner.
  5. To verify that you have the correct template, you can view a preview of the template:
    1. In the Details pane, click review.png Preview. A read-only view of the template appears.
    2. When you are finished, click Close preview in the message at the top of the view to go back to the templates list.
  6. In the Details pane, click More ellipse_vertical_dk_gray.png > Duplicate template. A copy of the template with the same name prefixed by (Copy) is created.
  7. Click the template copy and then edit it as required.

To edit a Planview.Me view template:

  1. In Planview Admin, click Settings and then click the Services tab.
  2. Click the Settings button for the Planview.Me environment that you want to add the view to. The list of views appears.
  3. Click the Templates tab. The list of templates appears.
  4. Click the row for the template you want to edit.
  5. To change the name, description or active status of the template, edit the fields in the Details pane.
  6. To change the widgets and the layout of the view, click Edit in designer in the Details pane.
  7. Make the desired changes and then click Save.

To delete a Planview.Me view template:

  1. In Planview Admin, click Settings and then click the Services tab.
  2. Click the Settings button for the Planview.Me environment that you want to add the view to. The list of views appears.
  3. Click the Templates tab. The list of templates appears.
  4. Click the template row that you want to delete. 
  5. In the Details pane, click More ellipse_vertical_dk_gray.png > Delete template.
  6. Click Delete to confirm.
