Planview Admin Sign-in Updates
In 2025, we will updating Planview Admin's sign-in process to support new features that will make multi-tenant membership easier to manage and facilitate the integration of other Planview applications, like AdaptiveWork, into Planview Admin. This document will provide a summary of the changes that are coming and some important things that are not affected by this change.
The main features we're introducing in the first half of the year are:
- Subdomains - Organizations will have unique subdomains that they use to access Planview Admin.
- Usernames - Administrators will be able to assign usernames as an alternative to using email addresses to sign-in.
- New login page - A new login page to accommodate the use of the first two features.
Subdomains
The URL you use to log into your Planview Admin tenant will be updated to include a subdomain for your organization. If you continue to use your existing URL, you will be prompted to enter your subdomain to log in. If you do not know your subdomain, you will need to contact your administrator.
Usernames
Organizations will have the option to generate usernames to log into Planview Admin instead of using email addresses. Administrators can enable this option in their tenants and assign the usernames to their users.
To enable usernames:
- Got to Settings > Organization Profile.
- Under Configuration Options, click the toggle next Enable Usernames.
Enabling usernames allows duplicate emails from different connected applications to exist in Planview Admin while still allowing a user to be uniquely identified.
NOTE
If you enable usernames in Planview Admin, you may be also be interested in having those usernames be synced with existing usernames in other Planview applications. Currently, only AdaptiveWork supports syncing usernames with Planview Admin. The week after this functionality will be extended to new Portfolio users in Planview Admin, with existing users to follow.
New Login Page
The login page will be updated to support these new features and give users an intuitive login experience.
To log in to Planview Admin through the new login page:
-
Navigate to Planview Admin.
-
Enter your email address and click Continue. Alternatively, you can enter your subdomain first by clicking the link below the email address field.
NOTE
If you used the old URL to get to Planview Admin, you will be asked to enter your subdomain. If you do not know your subdomain, contact your administrator. After you sign-in, your subdomain can be found in the following locations:
- In your URL after you sign-in.
- On the overview tab of PV Admin under your username.
- In the Product Switcher.
-
If your organization is set up to use passwords, enter your username and password. If your tenant has not been set up to use usernames by your administrator, then your username is your email address. Click Continue.
-
If your organization uses SSO, click Sign in with SSO. This will take you to your SSO sign in process.
What Stays the Same
For most users, the changes we're making to authentication should not affect the following:
- Bookmarks - If you have a bookmark to the old URL, that bookmark will still work. However, you will be prompted to enter a subdomain when signing in.
- Active sessions - You will not be forced to sign in again into any products where you currently have an active session. If your session expires, you will need to sign back in through the new login page.
- Direct product logins - If you log directly into a Planview product, without Planview Admin, that experience does not change.
- SSO logins - Your SSO login experience stays the same.
For administrators, these changes will not disrupt your tenant's existing settings:
- OAuth Client Credential and API logins do not change.
- SAML SSO Configurations do not change.
