Resources, in the context of Resource Management in Portfolio and Resource Management refers primarily to the people who accomplish work on projects and other work initiatives. Resource can also contribute effort toward ongoing service work (i.e., support tickets). Last, resources can also perform standard activities within the organization. In Portfolio and Resource Management, a standard activity represents non-project work such as general administration, attending staff meetings, and so on.
Resources include employees, contractors, and (in some cases) vendors. Portfolio and Resource Management also supports capturing expenditure information for non-human resources, such as laboratories or machinery.
