Maximizing Value from Portfolios: Joining the dots between Project Planning and Delivery Q&As - Webinar

Question Answer
Is it possible to connect a Portfolios project to both PP and AP? Or just one? It is possible to connect a Portfolios' project with both ProjectPlace and AgilePlace. The Portfolios' project can have an associated ProjectPlace workspace, meanwhile specific activities within the Portfolio's project schedule can be tagged to sync to AgilePlace as cards. These could be cards in the same board or different boards. Typically customers do NOT create an AgilePlace board per project, instead, routing different types of work (activities) to team boards in AgilePlace.
Can you set global labels or just by project? Labels cannot be set globally. Labels are set within a Workspace by Board. The Board labels can be added into a workspace template and all workspaces created using the template will contain the same labels. You can find useful information here; Customize a Board to Fit Your Way of Working
Can and how do late cards appear? On a ProjectPlace board late cards are indicated with a red Due Date.
On the Workspace Overview there is a widget showing late card count.
On your personal ProjectPlace My Overview the My Work widget shows late cards with a red Due Date. In addition, in ProjectPlace, Daily / Weekly email notifications can also be enabled to sent by email. Such email notifications may be enabled by default but as an individual you can choose to enable such notifications.
In Portfolios, in the Work and Assignments Schedule and Backlog view, cards (Action Items) that our outside of the associated activity dates show as Red.
Will you be demoing how to create and apply a PP template to a workspace from Portfolios? This topic is not covered in this webinar. Frequently, a Customer would engage with Planview Professional Services on this topic. You can find useful information here;

If a Card has a Dependency, but its Target Date gets pushed, can the Dependent's Card Target Date be pushed as well? No, notifications for card dependencies are only sent when the a predecessor card is moved to done. If you wish to receive notifications about card changes, including date changes, you will need to 'follow' the card.
Are risks/issues that are entered into PP synced to Portfolios? No, Risks and Issues entered in ProjectPlace are not synced to Portfolios. We have enhancements planned in our roadmap relating to this topic.
Could you talk about the use of the lane at the bottom where "backlog" items go? When using a connected ProjectPlace workspace, cards created in the workspace synchronize back into Portfolios. They will be visible in Work and Assignments in the Schedule and Backlog view (when connected to an activity) or in the Backlog view (if not connected to an activity.
Can we note down the actual time of a task/card in ProjectPlace and would this affect Timesheet in Portfolios?

ProjectPlace supports reporting time to Cards. This can be toggled on/off by a Workspace Administrator for a connected (to Portfolios) workspace. Planview Customer Care can change a setting to default this on for connected workspaces.

Time reporting (if enabled) in ProjectPlace is completely independent of Time Reporting in Portfolios. ProjectPlace card timesheet hours are NOT interfaced across to Portfolios.

Can you show how you got to Action Items Dashboard - Projects/Work & how to use Reports in ProjectPlace?

The Portfolios Action Item dashboard documentation can be found here.
ProjectPlace reports are documented here.

I can see that if I follow waterfall methodology in Planview Portfolios, I still can do aka kanban board in ProjectPlace to add little bit of agility by following kanban board for projects tasks, can we consider this as a hybrid way of working?

Connected work delivery with Portfolios and ProjectPlace supports traditional, agile and hybrid ways of working.

For customers with more Agile work practices, we would recommend connected AgilePlace as this better supports the concept of team boards with work, from different projects/epics/etc. flowing through team boards.

Is there a direct connect between ProjectPlace and AgilePlace?

Yes they are two different parts of the Planview Platform.
This CSC topic will help get a better understanding.

In summary, ProjectPlace is a place for a project team to manage the delivery of a project.
AgilePlace is best suited to team based boards where work flows to/through the team.

What kind of license is needed for a team member to manage project tasks in ProjectPlace alone? For more information on your licensing arrangements please kindly contact your Planview Account Executive or your Planview Customer Success Manager.
Is there guidance to support Portfolio use with both PP and AP?  I was advised this wasn't possible a while back, so would like some guidance and/or best practices? It is possible to connect a Portfolios' project with both ProjectPlace and AgilePlace. The project can have an associated ProjectPlace workspace, meanwhile specific activities in the project schedule can be tagged to synch to AgilePlace as cards. These could be cards in the same board or different boards. Typically customers do NOT create an AgilePlace board per project, instead, routing different types of work (activities) to team boards in AgilePlace.
Is the syncing of risks and issues on roadmap? We have enhancements planned in our roadmap relating to this topic.
How do you ensure proper capex/opex settings? The management of projects costs to split between CapEx and OpEx costs is achieved in Portfolios by flagging the Project schedule phases/activities as either CapEx or OpEx and using the LOAD functionality in Financial Planning Detail to aggregate costs in this way.
What does Enable time reporting in ProjectPlace mean? Would this prevent reporting time in Portfolios? ProjectPlace supports reporting time to Cards. This can be toggled on/off by a Workspace Administrator for a connected (to Portfolios) workspace. Planview Customer Care can change a setting to default this on for connected workspaces. Time reporting (if enabled) in ProjectPlace is completely independent of Time Reporting in Portfolios. ProjectPlace card timesheet hours are NOT synced across to Portfolios.
What reports are available in ProjectPlace? ProjectPlace reports are documented here.
